Alliteration

Alliteration consists of the repetition of a sound or of a letter at the beginning of two or more words.

OR

Alliteration is when two or more words that start with the same sound are used repeatedly in a phrase or a sentence.

OR

It is the repetition of usually initial consonant sounds in two or more neighbouring words or syllables.

The best way to spot alliteration in a sentence is to sound out the sentence, looking for the words with identical beginning consonant sounds. Alliterative words don’t have to start with the same letter, just the same initial sound.

(b) Names of people

(c) Phrases and Quotes

Silly Susie sings song while she strolls to the stalls.
Betty bakes brownies for her best friend Billy.
Naked numbats nibble nuts.
Poppy Platypuses pick prickly pineapples. 
Wonderful wombats wind up windmills.
I have heard how hedgehogs hog the hedge.
The chilling cold chopped him apart.
Peter piper picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers.
Fred’s friends fried fritters for Friday’s food.
Betty bought bigger buttons for baby Billy.
Purple possums pick purple plums.
Fair is foul and foul is fair : Hover through the fog and filthy air.
The terrible tiger tore the towel.
She was wide-eyed and wondering while she waited for walter to waken.
The trees swayed shyly in the summer breeze.
Carmen carefully caught Carl.
Busy buzzing, the bee behaved beautifully.
Crazy cats kept coming constantly.
Timmy the tattle-tale tried to tell tall tales to the teacher.
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer rose rapidly to the roof.
The Queen quietly and quickly made a quip about quilts.
Mike’s mother makes a mouthwatering mince pie.
The gentle giant jumped with joy.
My foolish friend forgot to take the first photo in France.
Carrie’s cat cawed her cough creating chaos.
Ralph’s reindeer rose rapidly and ran round the room.
Big brown bears bough bigger books.
All ages admire alphabet adventures.
Dany’s dog is drinking dirty water.
