Contents

  • 1 Types of Respiration
    • 1.1 1) Aerobic Respiration
    • 1.2 2) Anaerobic Respiration

Types of Respiration

1) Aerobic Respiration

The respiration which uses oxygen is called aerobic respiration.

Aerobic respiration

1 glucose —–> 2 Pyruvate                         Glycolysis(cytoplasm)

2 pyruvate ——–>6 carbon dioxide + 6 water + 38energy (ATP)

Kreb’s cycle (mitochondria)

2) Anaerobic Respiration

The respiration which take place without oxygen is called anaerobic respiration.

For Example : Yeast, some bacteria

1 glucose——-> 2 Pyruvate                     Glycolysis (cytoplasm)

2 pyruvate ——–> 2carbondioxide + 2Ethanol + 2energy(ATP)

Kreb’s cycle (mitochondria)

 Anaerobic respiration take place in our muscles during various physical exercise when oxygen gets used up faster in the muscle cells than can be supplied by the blood.

Glucose ——–> Pyruvate ——-> 2 lactic acid + 2 ATP

Anaerobic respiration (plant cell) ——-> carbon dioxide +ethanol

Anaerobic respiration (animal cell) ——->carbon dioxide + lactic cell
